Here's where it got really interesting. I learned that USC has won 11 national championships in football. That's a lot! And they've had 8 Heisman Trophy winners, which is more than any other school. Three of those Heisman winners were from 2002 to 2005 - Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, and Reggie Bush.

The "Trojan" Name

One thing I found that I thought was pretty cool was the story behind the "Trojan" name. Apparently, this guy Owen Bird came up with it. He said, "'Trojan' to me means that no matter what the situation, what the odds or what the conditions..." Basically, it means never giving up, no matter what. I thought that was a great way to describe the team's spirit.

Looking back at all this, it's crazy how much history and information is packed into one football season. I started this just wanting to organize some old notes, and I ended up learning a ton about USC football and the 2015 season. It just goes to show, you never know what you'll find when you start digging into something you're passionate about. This whole thing really reminded me why I love college football so much.
