Okay, so I've been digging into the history of baseball uniforms lately, and the Pittsburgh Pirates have had some seriously wild looks over the years. I wanted to see if I could recreate some of their older styles, just for fun.

Getting Started

First, I spent a good chunk of time just looking at pictures. I scoured the internet for old photos, trying to find the clearest shots of the uniforms from different eras. I also watched some old game footage.

The Deep Dive

• I noticed right away how much the colors have changed. It's not just black and gold! They used to have a lot more red and even blue in the mix.
• The logos are another thing. The Pirate head has gone through so many different versions. Finding decent images of some of the older ones was tough.
• Then there's the fonts for the numbers and names. Those have changed a ton, too. I tried to identify the fonts from old images.

Putting it Together

Once I felt like I had a good handle on the different eras, I started gathering data of images.
