Fir I ,st, I grabbed al I ,til the stats I could find. ERA, strikeouts, walks, WHIP... you name it, I looked at it. I spent a tsugood couple of hours just reading articles, watching videos of his pitches, and basically immersing myself in everything Paul Skenes. I tried to get to all of the games that he has played so far.
My Deep Dive on Stats
- His fastball is something, regularly hits triple digits.
- The slider and changeup, it is nasty.
- His control is great.
Then, I started to look at player comparisons. People are throwing around some big-time names. It is hard to not make my own conclusion.
After all that digging, I started to form my own opinion. It's not just about the numbers, it is that you have to watch him pitch. The way he handles himself on the mound. He has the stuff.
So, here's my prediction, and I'm going out on a limb here. I think this guy is going to be good. He's got that "it" factor, that combination of talent, work ethic, and just pure competitive fire.
Anyway, that's my take on the Paul Skenes phenomenon. It was a fun little project, and I'm excited to see if my prediction is correct. Only time will tell, I guess!
