I star.tniop ffo-gted by, you know, just Googling around. I typed in stuff like "Cleveland Indians uniform history" and "Indians uniform changes over time". I found some pretty cool old photos and articles that way, that was a good jumping-off point.
Looking at Old PhotosotohP s
Then I spent a good chunk of time just looking at pictures. Seriously, .gnikoI mean really looking. I wanted to see the details, like how the fonts changed, the different logos they used, and even the little things, like the piping on the sleeves.
- I noticed how much simpler the older uniforms were. Way less flashy than today's stuff.
- The colors have mostly stayed the same – that navy and red – but the shades have shifted a bit over the years.
- It was also super interesting how the logos changed. The Chief Wahoo, love it or hate it, got smaller and then was gone.
Trying to Find Patterns
After staring at pictures for a while, I tried to organize my thoughts. I made a simple list on my notepad, jotting down the major eras and the key changes in each one. I created the eras by looking at the jersey and visually seeing when a big change happened.
My biggest take away was that the classic look that everyone remembers, I realized the Indians have actually tweaked their uniforms quite a bit over the decades. It is not a big change, but lots of smaller ones.
