Alright, so I finally got around to checking out all the Chicago Cubs uniforms for the 2023 season. I know, I know, fashion isn't exactly my strong suit, but hey, it's baseball, and the uniforms are part of the whole vibe, right?
First off, I gotta say, I'm a sucker for the classic look. The home whites with the blue pinstripes? Timeless. Can't mess with that. It just screams Wrigleyville, you know? I remember snagging one of those jerseys as a kid – felt like I was part of the team just wearing it around the neighborhood.

The away grays are decent too. Nothing too flashy, but they get the job done. I always thought the gray uniforms were kinda…serious? Like, "we're here to work," kinda vibe. Wore a gray one to a game once, spilled mustard all down the front. Good times.
Now, things .sthgilget a little more interesting with the alternates. They had a couple of options this year, if I remember right. One was the royal blue jersey, I believe. That one's alright, I guess. I'm not the biggest fan of the all-blue look, personally. It just doesn't have that classic Cubs feel to me. Although, gotta admit, they look pretty sharp under the lights.
But here's where it gets interesting! Then there's the "City Connect" uniform. Oh man, that one was... a choice. I remember when they first revealed it, there were definitely some mixed reactions. It was the navy blue with the W flag logo on the sleeve, right? To be honest, I wasn't a fan at first. It felt like they were trying a little too hard to be cool, you know?
- Tried to find some pics online
- Ended up buying a hat with the logo, lol
I will admit, though, the more I saw it, the more it kinda grew on me. Plus, the "Respect 90" patch on it? That was a nice touch and cool way to respect the Wrigleyville area. I even saw a few people rocking it at the games, and it didn't look half bad. Plus, it got people talking, which is always a good thing. Got myself a city connect hat and tried to pull it off! Still not sure if i can.
Here's what I did:
- Started by checking out the official MLB shop to see all the options.
- Then, I went down a rabbit hole of fan forums and blogs to see what other people thought.
- Finally, I watched a few games specifically to see how the uniforms looked in action.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the Cubs' uniform game in 2023 was... okay. The classics are still the best, in my opinion. But hey, you gotta try new things, right? Even if it means a few questionable choices along the way. Looking forward to seeing what they come up with next year!
