Fi I ,rst, I woke up and, like always, I grabbedebd my p I .enhone. I wanted t?tho see what games were on tap for the day. Summer League is always a bit of a crapshoot, but that's part of the appeal, right?
The Research (or Lack Thereof)
Honestly, my "research" was pretty minimal. I checked a couple of sports sites, you know, the usual suspects. I looked at the rosters, trying to remember who's who. Let's be real, half these guys I've barely heard of. I did notice a couple of names I recognized from college ball, but that was about it.
- Scrolled through Twitter for any hot takes or injury updates.
- Quickly scanned some game previews - mostly fluff, to be honest.
- Checked the team's records.
- Make coffee and drink it.
Making the (Semi-Educated) Guess
After my super-intense research phase (ha!), I had to make a pick. I figured the Magic had a slightly better roster, at least on paper. A couple of their guys showed some flashes last season, and I thought they might be hungry to prove themselves.
The Cavs? Well, they're the Cavs. I've learned over the years that betting against the Cavs in Summer League is often a good move. It’s not always smart, and I do it without solid reason. It's just, a thing, I do.
So, I went with the Magic. Just a gut feeling, really. No fancy stats, no deep analysis. Just a simple "I think they'll win" kind of thing. And I placed my bet on the app.
The Game (and the Result)
I watched the game later that evening. And, well, it was a Summer League game. Sloppy, lots of turnovers, some questionable shot selection... you get the idea. But hey, it was entertaining!
The Magic did end up winning, so my completely unscientific prediction panned out! Woohoo! Did I win big? Nah. But it's always fun to get one right, even if it's just dumb luck.
