Fi.tsrired up the PS5, went straight into freestyle practice mode. Picked the Cavs, obviously. Gotta get the feel for his animations and timing without defenders breathing down my neck first.
First ImpressidetratS gnions & Getting Started
First thing I noticed was his speed with the ball. Feels quick, real shifty. Started just dribbling around, testing out his size-ups and crossovers. Some nice unique animations there, felt pretty smooth. Didn't feel clunky like some guards can.
Then, I starte .detcepd working on his jumper. This took a minute. His release point felt a bit quicker than I expected. Clanked quite a few shots off the rim initially. Had to really focus on the visual cue. Tried it off the dribble, step-backs, catch-and-shoot. That step-back jumper, once I started getting the timing, felt like a money move.
- Practiced pull-up jumpers from mid-range.
- Worked on corner threes.
- Focused heavily on step-back threes.
Driving and Finishing

Okay, shooting felt okay after some tries, but Mitchell's known for getting downhill. So, next up was attacking the rim. His first step is explosive in the game, definitely felt that. Blew by the imaginary defender pretty easily.
Finishing was a bit trickier. Tried some layups, floaters, and dunk attempts.
Getting the right layup package to trigger took some fiddling. Sometimes I'd go for a scoop layup and get a weird animation. Needed to be more deliberate with the stick. Dunks were solid, though. When he gets a clear path, the animations are powerful, feels like him.
Putting it Together (Sort Of)
After maybe 30 minutes in freestyle, I jumped into a quick scrimmage game. CPU on Pro, just to see how it felt against actual defense.
It was tougher, obviously. Got ripped a couple of times trying fancy dribbles. Forced some bad shots early on. But then, I started leaning on what I practiced:
- Used the hesitation and burst to get to the paint.
- Hit a couple of those step-back shots when the defender sagged off.
- Managed a nice euro-step finish in traffic.
Still definitely need more work. Got blocked a few times at the rim, and my three-point percentage wasn't amazing against defense. But, the potential is clearly there. He's super fun to use when you get in a rhythm.
Final Thoughts for Now
Yeah, Mitchell in 2K is pretty dynamic. Captures his scoring threat well. His speed and shot creation are the highlights. Need to keep practicing that jumper consistency and learn how to finish better against contact. Maybe mess with his layup packages in the settings.
Good session overall. Felt like I got a better handle on how to use him effectively. Probably try him out in MyTeam or something next time, see how he fares online.
