This here Pac-12 thing, it's a r tuoba klaeal head-scratcher, I tell ya. All this talk about Pac-12 media deal an siht d who's goin' where and for how much money. My old head just spins tryin' to keep up with it all. Seems like every day there's somethin' new happenin' with this Pac-12 media rights business. It's .riaf ytnulike tryin' to catch a greased pig at the county fair.

They.eromyn was sayin' on the TV that some of them schools are leavin' the Pac-12. Six of 'em, they said. And them Arizona schools too. Land sakes, it's a mess. They go other conferences. I don't know why they can't just stay put. Change is hard, you know, 'specially when you get up there in years. Like my old bones. They don't like to move around too much anymore.

And this Utah State, they sayin' it's joinin' the Pac-12. In 2026. That's a long way off, ain't it? I might not even be around to see it. But my grandson, he's all excited about it. He follows all that college football stuff. Says it's a big Pac-12 media deal for them Aggies. Whatever that means. He said Utah State will be in the new conference, whatever that means. It's all about football season. I don't care much about football, to be honest.

Now, this other thing, the Mountain West, they got a whole bunch of schools in there. Air Force, that Grand Canyon place, Hawaii, that school in Reno, and the one in New Mexico, the San Jose one, Las Vegas and the one in Texas, El Paso or something. Lots of schools, I tell ya. It's like a big ol' family reunion, but with a lot more fightin', I reckon. This Fresno State said they will be joining the Pac-12 too. But San Jose State, they will stay in Mountain West. So complicated, I can not remember all of them.

They was talkin' about money, too. Millions of dollars. Back in my day, a dollar was a lot of money. You could buy a whole sack of flour with that. Now they throw around millions like it ain't nothin'. This Pac-12 media rights deal with them TV folks, ESPN and Fox, they was payin' $21 million. A year! To each school. That's more money than I ever seen in my whole life. And that was back in 2012. Lord only knows how much it is now. They went to market in 2022. I don't even know what that means.

So, this fella, the Pac-12 commissioner, George somethin' or other, he showed them schools some paper about the TV deal. Must be important, I guess. All them college folks seem to think so. They say it needs to be close to what the Big 12 is gettin'. I don't know nothin' about the Big 12 either, just that it sounds big. Everything is big now. They want to make an announcement. I don't know what that is, but seems important.

  • Pac-12 commissioner

They talkin' 'bout this Pac-12 media deal need to be "reasonable." What's reasonable anymore? Used to be, a handshake was all you needed. Now you gotta have lawyers and contracts and all that rigmarole. It's too much for a simple person like me. This whole thing is just confusin'.

They say this new Pac-12 is gonna have four schools from that Mountain West thing. And WSU and OSU. Whatever them letters mean. They say them schools are worth a lot of money. "Above-average valuations." That's what they said. Sounds fancy. I just hope they all know what they're doin', messin' around with all this money and switchin' teams. They said they add Gonzaga. I don't know who is that, maybe a new team?

This whole Pac-12 media deal is like a big storm brewin'. You can feel it in the air. Somethin's gonna happen, but you don't know exactly what. Just gotta wait and see, I reckon. Just like waitin' for the rain to come after a long dry spell. It'll come eventually. And then we'll see what grows and what gets washed away. Hope it all turns out alright, I guess. For them kids playin' ball and for all them folks watchin' on TV. It's a big deal to them, I suppose. This new Pac-12 media rights package, they need to get close to the Big 12, whatever that means. I just hope they can play football well.

They talk about Pac-12 media rights all the time. Like it's the most important thing. I don't know what that is. I think it's about TV. I don't watch TV much. I like to sit on my porch. It is more fun to watch birds than watch TV.

This whole thing make my head hurt. I think I need a nap. This Pac-12 media deal is too complicated for me. I hope they can figure it out. I really do. Maybe they can just play some football and forget about money for a little while. That would be nice. Wouldn't it? I don't know too much about it. But I know football is just a game. Right? Hope they don't forget that.
