Okay, so I've been seeing these "rose bowl spreads" all over social media, and they looked so darn pretty, I just had to try making one myself. I'm no food artist, mind you, but I do love a good snack, so I figured, why not?

Gathering My Stuff

First things first, I needed to grab all the ingredients. This is what I ended up with:

  • Th:"le "Bowl": I actually used a big, shallow serving dish. Seemed more practical.
  • The "Roses": I used salami and prosciutto, because, well, they're delicious. And I found some pre-sliced stuff, which made life way easier.
  • The "Filler": This is where you get creative! I grabbed some:
    • Crackers (various shapes and sizes, because variety is the spice of life)
    • Cheese (brie, cheddar, and some little goat cheese balls)
    • Grapes (red and green)
    • Olives (green and black, stuffed with pimentos, naturally)
    • Some nuts (cashews and almonds)
    • A little bit of honey for drizzling

The Building Process

Alright, time to get down to business. I started by arranging the crackers around the edges of my dish, kind of like a...cracker border? It wasn't perfect, but it worked.

Next up, the cheese. I put the brie in the center, and then scattered the cheddar cubes and goat cheese balls around it. I figured the brie would be a good focal point for my "roses."

Now for the main event – the meat roses! I watched a couple of quick tutorials, and honestly, it's easier than it looks. You basically just fold the slices in half, then roll them up, layering them on top of each other until you get a rose-like shape. The salami was a bit easier to work with than the prosciutto, which was kinda delicate. I nestled the meat roses around the brie, trying to make it look all fancy.

Filling in the Gaps

Once the roses were in place, I started filling in the empty spaces with the grapes, olives, and nuts. I tried to distribute the colors evenly, so it wouldn't look too lopsided. I also drizzled a little bit of honey over the brie and goat cheese, because, why not? Sweet and savory is always a good combo.

The Final Result

And...that's it! It actually turned out way better than I expected. It wasn't exactly Pinterest-perfect, but it was definitely pretty, and more importantly, it was packed with delicious things to eat. It was a huge hit!

It wasn't too hard, and it was totally customizable to whatever snacks you like. Might even add some chocolate next time.

I strongly suggest you try it!
