Mysni Little Search Begins
First .tcnthing I did was just hop online. Typed in "Wake Forest uniforms" into the search bar, pretty standard stuff. Got a whole flood of images back, mostly football and basketball, which makes sense. Lots of black and gold, obviously. That Old Gold color they use is pretty distinct.
I started digging a bit deeper. Wanted to see the different styles they've had over the years. It wasn't super easy to find a neat timeline or anything. You get bits and pieces.
- Official athletic site: Showed the current stuff, naturally. Looked sharp, gotta say. Modern cuts, Nike swoosh everywhere.
- Fan forums and blogs: Found some discussions here. People talking about favorite throwbacks, complaining about new designs. That's usually where the real opinions are.
- Image searches: Scrolled through tons of pictures from different games, different eras. You can kinda piece together the evolution, seeing the helmet decals change on the football side, or the shorts getting longer then shorter then longer again in basketball.
Sorting Through It All
What I noticed pretty quick is they stick to their guns, color-wise. Always black and that Old Gold. Sometimes white as the main, sometimes black. The Demon Deacon logo pops up in different ways, sometimes big, sometimes small, sometimes just on the helmet or sleeve.
Finding specific older jerseys, like maybe one from the Tim Duncan era for basketball, or a particular football style? That got trickier. Official stores mostly sell the latest gear, or maybe a popular throwback if you're lucky. Had to look at resale sites, places like eBay. Found some, but you gotta be careful, lots of fakes out there, or the prices are sky-high for something authentic and in good shape.
It wasn't like trying to find, say, a Michigan or Notre Dame jersey where there's a million options from every decade. Wake's stuff felt a bit more niche, harder to track down specific older versions unless you really dedicate some time to it.
Final Thoughts
So yeah, spent a good chunk of an afternoon just clicking around, looking at pictures, reading old forum posts. Didn't end up buying anything, wasn't really the goal. Just wanted to satisfy that curiosity about their look. They've got a solid, classic identity with that black and gold. Maybe not as flashy as some schools, but instantly recognizable if you follow college sports. It was kinda interesting just seeing how the designs changed subtly over time while keeping that core look. A decent little trip down memory lane, even if it was just through image search.
