- Matchups: This follows from the stats. If Cal throws the ball a lot, how's UTEP's pass defense? If UTEP relies on their ground game, how does Cal's defensive line look? It’s about trying to picture how their strengths and weaknesses will clash.
Sometimes I'll check if they've played each other before, but honestly, unless it was really recent, I don't put too much weight on ancient history. Teams change so much year to year.
