First thing I did, like usual,.reikcirt e was grab the remote and flip through the basic channels. Checked ABC, FOX, CBS… sometimes you get lucky and it’s on one of the main networks. No dice this time. Knew it was probably gonna be trickier.
Diggingrepee a Little Deeper
So, I pulled out my phone. My go-to is usually the ESPN app, just to see the schedule and where games are listed. Found the game, alright. But then it showed one of those channels I don't automatically get – maybe it was Big Ten Network, or FS1, I forget which one exactly this time around. It changes, you know?

This is where it gets annoying. I started thinking about my subscriptions.
- Do I have that channel in my cable package? Had to check the guide again.
- Is it on one of those streaming things I pay for? Like Hulu + Live TV, or YouTube TV?
- Could I maybe use my brother-in-law’s login for something? Always an option, haha.
I remembered I have that basic Sling TV package. Fired that up. Scrolled through their guide. Nope, not there either. Seems like the package I have doesn't include the channel I needed. Typical. Always seems to be just outside what you already pay for.
Getting It On The Screen
Okay, time for plan C. I looked up the specific channel it was on, let's say it was FS1 for this story. Went to their website on my laptop first. Sometimes they let you stream if you log in with your TV provider. Found the 'Live TV' section. It asked me to sign in.
I tried my cable provider login. Success! It actually recognized my subscription included that channel, even though I couldn't easily find it on the TV guide earlier. Weird how that works sometimes. So, I could watch it on my laptop, which is okay, but not ideal.
Then I remembered the app. Downloaded the FOX Sports app onto my smart TV. Went through the activation process – you know, where you go to a website on your phone or computer and enter a code shown on the TV. Logged in using the same cable provider info. Took a few minutes, navigating with the TV remote is always a bit clunky.
And boom! There it was. The game, live on the big screen. Finally. Took a bit of shuffling around, checking different apps and logins, but got there in the end. It’s never quite as simple as just turning on the TV anymore, is it? But hey, at least I got to see the Buckeyes play. That's what counts.
