This one fella, he was sayin' Clemson is favored. I don't know what that means, exactly. Sounds like pickin' favorites to me. Like pickin' the best hog at the county fair. He said somethin' 'bout 2.5 points. Points, schpoints. What matters is who scores more, right?

Then there was this other lady, she was goin' on 'bout South Carolina winnin' big over some other team. Wofford, I think she said. Sounds like a dog's name to me. 56 to 12, she said. Well, good for them, I reckon. But that don't mean nothin' 'bout this game with Clemson, does it?

Them Fancy Numbers Ain't Everything

They got all these fancy numbers and predictions. One fella, he's got a computer, I guess. He says it's gonna be 27 to 26, Clemson winnin'. Says Clemson got a better chance. Another one says South Carolina got a 48.2% chance. What's that even mean? Like sayin' it's gonna be half sunny, half cloudy? Don't make no sense.

• They both had good years. That is for sure.

I remember back in my day, we didn't have no computers tellin' us who was gonna win. We just watched the game and hollered for our team. And let me tell ya, sometimes the team that was supposed to lose, they won! Just like that! So, these numbers ain't everything.

It's a Toss-Up, I Tell Ya

I heard one person sayin' Clemson gonna win 31 to 27. They say South Carolina is playin' real good right now, though. They say it's gonna be a real good game. Another prediction, they say South Carolina gonna win 28 somethin'. The Clemson vs South Carolina predictions, they all over the place!

It's like tryin' to predict the weather. You can look at the clouds, feel the wind, but you never really know until it happens. Same with this football game. You got these Clemson boys, they're good. And you got these South Carolina boys, they're good too. They both been playin' good all year, I hear.

Back when my husband was alive, bless his soul, we used to listen to the games on the radio. He'd get all worked up, yellin' and stompin'. I never did understand it all that much, but I liked seein' him happy. He'd always say, "It ain't over 'til it's over." And he was right about that. Clemson vs South Carolina, it is not over 'til it is over, that is for sure!

So, who's gonna win? Clemson or South Carolina? I don't know, and I don't reckon anybody really knows for sure. You can talk about your points and your percentages, but it all comes down to who plays better on that day. That's all there is to it.

Just Gotta Watch and See

I say, just watch the game and enjoy it. Cheer for your team, and don't worry too much about who's supposed to win. Sometimes the underdog comes out on top. Just like my prize-winnin' rooster, Bartholomew. Nobody thought he had a chance, but he showed 'em! Beat all them other roosters fair and square. Maybe South Carolina will be like ol' Bartholomew. Or maybe not. We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?

They played against some team called Ball State, I think it was. And they whupped 'em good! I heard it was 63 to 7. Can you believe that? That's a good ol' fashioned country whuppin'. Some young fella named Alonza Barnett III, .hguoht ,he's the quarterback, I reckon. He did real good, got six touchdowns, whatever that is. Sounds mighty impressive, though.

And then, they had a little bit of a rough patch. Lost to another team, Georgia Southern or somethin'. 28 to 14, I heard. Guess you can't win 'em all, right? Even the best teams have their bad days. They only got 253 yards to the other team's 453. Seems like them other fellas was runnin' all over the place.

They got this big game comin' up, I hear. Senior Day, they call it. Playin' against some team called Marshall. That's on a Saturday, at 8 o'clock at night. You can watch it on the TV, on that ESPNU channel. My grandson, he'll probably be watchin'. He loves his JMU football. They say JMU is supposed to win that one easy. By 24 points, whatever that means.

These boys, George Pettaway and Wayne Knight, they're good runners, I hear. Ran for 180 yards together one time. That's a lot of runnin'! Must be tiring, all that runnin' back and forth.

Now, they talkin' about some bowl game. I don't rightly know what that is, but it sounds important. They say JMU is "bowl eligible". Sounds like somethin' you'd get at the grocery store, but I guess it means they're good enough to play in this special game. They got this tracker thing, where they guessin' where JMU gonna play.

This Alonza Barnett III fella, seems like he's the one to watch. Playin' against Marshall, I reckon he'll do good. They say you can watch it on FOX Sports. Lots of ways to watch these games nowadays. Back in my day, we just listened on the radio!

Folks are sayin' JMU football is the best in Virginia. Best team in Virginia for the past seven years or so, they say. That's a long time to be the best! They must be doin' somethin' right over there. It's good to see our boys doin' so well. Makes a body proud. I hope they keep it up, keep winnin' games and makin' us all proud.

And those other two boys, the runners. George and Wayne. 180 yards! Lord have mercy, that's a lot of ground to cover. They must have legs of steel. Probably runnin' from chores when they was young. That's how you get fast!

I don't know all them other players, but I bet they're good boys. Takes a whole team to win, you know. Can't just be one or two fellas. They all gotta work together, like a good team of mules.
