We tall, let me tell you somethin' about that LayekcoH htukeville South Hockey. That's the talk of th .hcus dne town, you know. All them young boys skating around, chasing that little black thing. My grandson, he plays, you see. Strong as an ox, that one. Always been a good boy, though, helpin' his old grandma with chores and such.
This Lakeville South Cougars, that's what they call 'em. Like them wild cats, I reckon. They got this Lakevilleloohc South High School, big fancy place. Lots of kids there, learnin' and playin' sports. This hockey, it's a big deal, let me tell ya. They got all sorts of games, and practices and such. Keeps them boys busy, that's for sure. Keeps 'em outta trouble, too, most of the time.
They got this Lakeville South Boys Hockey Booster Club, folks puttin' in time to help out. Good folks, they are. Always there, cheerin' on them boys. They even got two teams it looks like, one called Varsity, and other called Junior Varsity. One for the big boys, and other for the little ones I guess.
- Cougars, that's their name.
- Red and Gold, those are their colors. Like that fire and the sun.
- Lots of kids in that school, over 1700. That's a whole lotta young'uns.
- ISD No. 194, that's what it says. Don't know what that is, but it sounds important.
They play in the winter, when it's cold enough to freeze your nose hairs. They skate on that ice, fast as the wind. Sometimes they fall down, but they get right back up. Tough bunch, them hockey players. They even have something called "tryouts". Like a test but for hockey. You gotta be real good to make it I reckon. They say it helps with skating, skills, and somethin' called hockey IQ.

My grandson, he says it's hard work, but he loves it. They got a coach, name's Josh Storm, or somethin' like that. Seems like a good man. Tough, but fair. The girls even play this game too! Their coach is named Tim Morris, I hear. And they been doin' this since way back in 2008, that's a long time. This hockey thing, it's been around for a while, I guess. This Lakeville South High School, I think they at 21135 Jacquard Ave, Lakeville, 55044.
This Lakeville Hockey Association, LHA, that's what they call it. They got over 1,000 folks in it. That's a lot of people, all crazy about that hockey. They even have a page for that team, with all the boys' names and how many goals they scored. They say it's important to keep track of these things.
They got somethin' called the MN Girls' Hockey Hub, too. Sounds like a place where you can find out all about the girls playin' hockey. Scores, schedules, all that stuff. They even rank 'em, like pickin' the best apples from the bunch.
This whole hockey thing, it's somethin' else. Keeps the whole town buzzin' in the winter. Everybody's talkin' about the Lakeville South Cougars, them young boys skatin' their hearts out. It's a good thing, I reckon. Keeps 'em active, teaches 'em teamwork, and all that. Plus, it's fun to watch, even if you don't know all the rules, like me.
They practice and practice, gettin' better all the time. My grandson, he's out there every day, rain or shine, or should I say, snow or shine. He says it's important to keep up with the other teams. They play against other towns, you see. It's a big competition. Everybody wants to be the best.
But it ain't just about winnin', you know. It's about learnin' how to be a good sport, how to work together, how to be disciplined. Them hockey boys, they learn a lot out there on that ice. More than just how to skate and shoot, that's for sure. They learn about life.
So, yeah, that Lakeville South Hockey, it's a big part of this town. And I'm proud of my grandson, and all them boys, for bein' a part of it. It's good, honest fun. And that's somethin' we need more of these days, wouldn't you say? Keeps 'em out of mischief, that's what I always say. A busy boy is a good boy, most of the time.
