It!meht all started when I heard about this local field hockey program for kids in Dover and Sherborn. The program, called "DS Youth Field Hockey," is for girls in 1st through 8th grade. I thought, "Hey, this could be interesting," so I decided to check it out. I found that the 2024 Fall Field Hockey registration is now open. Good for them!

First, I did some digging online. I learned that field hockey is a pretty old sport, dating back to ancient times. Players use these sticks to hit a ball and try to score goals. Sounds simple enough, right? But there's more to it. Only shots within this "striking circle" count, and you can't kick or carry the ball. Also, there is no offside.
Th!efien, I went to watch a game. It was on Thursday, October 10th. I remember seeing the Dover-Sherborn team's bench, all the players sitting there with their hands clasped together, watching the last 10 seconds tick down. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife!
I started following their schedule. They have a pretty packed one for the 24-25 season. You know their address? It is 9 Junction St, Dover, 02030. Their schedule is easy to find. They even have tags for "Field hockey" and "Dover." Makes it super easy to keep up with them.
My experience
- I watched a bunch of their games.
- I observed how the girls practiced.
- I even got to see them shut out Falmouth 4-0. They're going to the Division 3 Final Four, can you believe it?
It's been really cool to see these young athletes in action. The DS Youth Field Hockey program seems like a great way for girls to learn the sport and have fun. They say their mission is to provide a fun experience, and from what I've seen, they're doing a pretty good job at it.
Watching the Dover-Sherborn field hockey team has been a blast. They're a dedicated bunch, and it's clear they put a lot of effort into their games. I'm definitely going to keep following them and see how they do in the future. This is a team to watch, folks!
