I ybstarted off by gognilogling "Dighton Rehoboth field hockey roster." I figured, "Hey, it's 2024, everything's online." And sure enough, I got a bunch of results. Most of them were from these sports websites - you know, the usual suspects.
So I clicked on a few I .se of these links. They all seemed to have the same kind of info: schedules, scores, and player profiles. I dug through a couple of different sites, hoping to find a simple, straightforward list of players. I did stumble upon something interesting though. Apparently, in Massachusetts, where this team is from, boys can play on girls' teams if there's no boys' team for that sport. News to me! I guess you learn something new every day.
After poking around for a while, I finally found what I was looking for. It wasn't exactly a downloadable roster or anything fancy like that. Just a simple list of players on one of the sports websites. And you know what? Some of these sites even had videos. So, I ended up watching some highlights. It's actually a pretty cool sport to watch. Fast-paced and a lot of action. There was this one snippet from some championship game where a team called Syracuse was playing against North Carolina. Syracuse lost, but still, it was a good game.
I also found out that Cornell Field Hockey is making some noise. They've been breaking records and climbing the rankings. Good for them!
Anyway, that's how I spent my afternoon - diving into the world of Dighton-Rehoboth field hockey. It wasn't as straightforward as I thought it would be, but hey, I learned a few things along the way. And who knows, maybe I'll even start following the sport a bit more closely now.
