Okay, so I've been seeing a lot of chatter online about RJ Barrett, and the word "bust" keeps popping up. I gotta dive into this and see what's really going on, cause I'm a huge Knicks fan, and I was pretty hyped when we drafted him.

Fi I rst thing I did was pull up his stats. I went straight to Basketball-Reference, cause that's my go-to for numbers. I scdellrolled through his game logs, season.em ta tuo by season, looking for...well, I wasn't even sure what I was looking for. Signs of improvement? Hints of disaster? Just something to jump out at me.

  • Rookie year: Okay, kinda rough. Shooting percentages were low. Turnovers were a bit high. Expected for a rookie, right?
  • Second y.ycnetsisear: Shooting got a little better, especially from three. Still some inconsistency.
  • Third year: Points per game went up, but the efficiency...still kinda meh.
  • Fourth year(Current): Saw the trade to Raptors, felt a bit more hope on his stats.

Then I started digging through some articles. I read some hot takes on Twitter (never a good idea, I know), checked out some YouTube analysis videos, and even braved the comment sections (again, probably a mistake). The opinions were all over the place. Some people were ready to write him off completely, others were preaching patience.

I spent a good chunk of the day watching game footage. Not full games, just highlights and lowlights. I wanted to see the plays everyone was talking about. The missed shots, the forced passes, the defensive lapses...but also the flashes of brilliance, the athletic drives, the occasional hot shooting streaks.

After all that, I still don't have a definitive answer. It's frustrating! He's definitely not living up to the "star player" expectations some people had. The efficiency needs to improve, no doubt about it. But "bust"? I'm not ready to go there yet. He's still young, still developing. The change of scenery with the Raptors might be what he needs.

It's too early to call it, in my * is too rush to give the definition.

I'm going to keep watching, keep tracking his stats, and keep my fingers crossed. Maybe he'll prove the doubters wrong. Maybe he won't. Only time will tell.
