First off, I stdetarted by checking out the horses that are supposed to run. I looked a I ,seman et a bunch of different websites to get a good list. Once I had the names, I dug into their past races.

I wanted to see how they did in their last few races. Were they winning? Were they close? Or were they way behind? I also looked at what kind of races they ran in. Were they all easy races, or did they run in some tough ones?
Then, I checked out the jockeys and trainers. It's like any sport, right? The team around the horse is super important. I found some jockeys and trainers who have won big races before, and others who are still trying to make a name for themselves.
- I also looked at the weather forecast.
- A muddy track can really change things up.
- Some horses love the mud, others, not so much.
After all that, I started narrowing down my list. I picked a few horses that I thought had a good shot at winning. It wasn't easy, let me tell you. There are so many good horses running in the Oaks this year!
And here's a little secret: Sometimes, I just go with my gut. If I have a good feeling about a horse, I'll put them on my list, even if the numbers don't totally back it up. It's all part of the fun, right?
So, that's basically it. That's how I made my picks for the 2024 Kentucky Oaks. It's a mix of looking at the past, checking out the team, and a little bit of gut feeling. Now, we just have to wait and see what happens on race day! I will be so excited on that day!
